| We
believe every Christian is a leader, leading by bearing witness
to Christ in their own unique way.
We develop confident, competent leadership through constant leadership
training and Christian education. The most powerful way this happens
is NOT the obvious. The most obvious way is through classes, workshops,
and training sessions. The most powerful way it happens is through
individuals who offer personal coaching and mentoring.
To this end, every event and happening in the Gift
of Grace community has a twofold purpose: 1) the successful accomplishment
of event or happening itself, 2) and the training and leadership
coaching that grows confidence and competence in others.
The training or coaching itself has a twofold purpose:
- to teach the thing itself,
- to lift up Christ's love and acceptance through
the interpersonal relationship that is built in the training.
In addition, we expect each event to have a set
of instructions, written up by the leader of the event, so that
others can make use of the experience. We also expect an intentional
coaching process to be employed. Often the best coaching model is
this 4 step process:
- Coach does it, Trainee watches.
- Coach does it, Trainee helps.
- Trainee does it, Coach helps.
- Trainee does it, Coach watches.
Servant Leadership
This mission plan assumes and is predicated on a
servant model of leadership. The success of this mission plan is
entirely contingent on the initiative of the leadership of this
congregation (the Board and Members, collectively and individually)
to deliberately seek out, mentor and train new persons for Christian
leadership.
The process of mentoring and training is a significant
part of our congregational caring plan. It includes, helping persons
discover and claim their spiritual gifts and their abilities and
aptitudes as gifts from God, developing these gifts, encouraging
persons to offer them for the sake of serving God's people.
