Through the years, Gift of Grace has been blessed by many people who have shown particular aptitude for public leadership of Word and Sacrament ministry. We have been the “sending congregation” for 5 such people who went to seminary. We have also been the temporary home to several pastors on their way to serve else where. In every single case we have been and still are greatly encouraged and enriched by their participation.
Pastor Gretchen Luoma Cohan had a degree already from an ELCA seminary when we met. She is now head of Spiritual Care at Skagit Valley Hospital.
Dana Fowler (left) went to seminary with me and was a pastor for several years. Now she adds faithful leadership to Gift of Grace congregation, even though she drives in from North Bend.
Pastor Kari Reiten was sent to seminary from Gift of Grace after having been our parish administrator. Following seminary she pastored congregations in Everett and Renton. She is now a faithful worshipper as she discerns what is next for her
After having been a pastor in Wyoming, Pastor Kate Schlechter (left) joined us here as she pursued an additional degree at Seattle Pacific University in Family and Marriage Therapy. She finished and went on to pursue her ministry. She is now pastoring in Arizona.
Pastor Brian Julin McCleary was lured here by his now, wife, Natalie Julin McCleary. We sent Brian to seminary after he had served here as congregational president. He is now pastor in Fairbury, Nebraska
Although we were not her sending congregation, Pastor Chelsea Globe (2nd from right) decided to go to seminary while attending Gift of Grace. She is now pastor at Calvary, in Federal Way WA.
We were the sending congregation for Pastor Dan Sorenson. We did not know him well, but his congregation in Everett was unable to send him to seminary, so we got to! Dan is now a pastoral counselor with CHI Franciscan in Federal Way, WA. He is also a Lieutenant Commander in The US Navy Reserve.
Pastor Aimee Appell (plaid shirt) served in many capacities at Gift of Grace before deciding to go to seminary. She is now pastor at Peace, Washington MO. Oddly, the pastor who founded the congregation she now serves was my childhood pastor in Goshen IN. and a tremendous influence on me going to seminary.
Gift of Grace sent Pastor Valerie Carlson to seminary. Here she is, standing next to her proud dad at her seminary graduation in Berkeley. Following graduation she served as pastor in Bakersfield, CA, and now is pastor at Mt Carmel in San Luis Obispo, CA.
